About PE Shoe Covers

In wet food processing zones, a breathable fabric shoe cover soaks through in minutes. That is where polyethylene earns its place. Our disposable PE shoe covers are fully waterproof, made from 9-micron polyethylene with a double elastic band that grips the shoe and stays on through washdown, splashing and standing water. The material sheds liquid instead of absorbing it, so operators stay dry and floor contamination is not tracked from wet areas into clean ones — the core of food processing hygiene in a HACCP-controlled environment.

These covers are made for wet-floor meat, poultry, seafood and dairy facilities. Because they are single-use, there is no laundering and no cross-contamination risk from reused footwear covers; each operator gets a clean, waterproof barrier and disposes of it when leaving the zone.

As a manufacturer and exporter, Disponord supplies PE shoe covers in bulk to food facilities that run high daily volumes across Europe and the Gulf. Packaging options include 1000-piece vacuum bags for compact, high-turnover storage or 100-piece carton boxes for cleaner dispensing, and we focus on consistent specification and reliable resupply so wet-zone hygiene never stalls for want of stock. For dry and mid-care areas, see our breathable non-woven shoe covers.

Frequently asked questions

What are PE shoe covers used for?

PE (polyethylene) shoe covers slip over footwear to stop dirt, moisture and contaminants being tracked between areas of a facility. In food processing they are used at the entrance to production and clean zones, and they are common in wet areas because the polyethylene material is liquid-resistant.

What is the difference between PE and non-woven shoe covers?

PE shoe covers are made from polyethylene film, which is waterproof and best suited to wet processing areas where liquids are present. Non-woven shoe covers are made from breathable fabric, which is more comfortable for longer wear in dry areas but is not liquid-resistant. Many plants use both, choosing by zone.

What thickness are your PE shoe covers?

Our PE shoe covers are 9 micron with a double elastic band. The double elastic holds the cover securely around the shoe and ankle so it stays on during movement, and the 9 micron polyethylene gives liquid resistance while keeping the cover light and economical for high-turnover use.

How are PE shoe covers packed?

They are available in a 1000-piece vacuum pack (with a 250-piece option) and a 100-piece carton box. The vacuum packs group into larger bags and then sacks for high-volume lines, while the carton box suits lower-volume or cleaner-dispensing use.

Are PE shoe covers suitable for food processing hygiene?

Yes. PE shoe covers are suitable for use in HACCP-controlled food processing environments, particularly wet zones in meat, poultry, dairy and seafood plants where their liquid resistance is an advantage. HACCP is a facility-level system rather than a product certification, so the covers support — rather than replace — a plant's hygiene controls.
